Welcome to Seventh Grade
Yes, it is true the school year is half over and we have all ready learned so much.  I am proud to say that the Pre-Algebra and Algebra classes are moving along and the students in those classes are feeling confident in their mathematical abilities.

We continue to explore Life Science in seventh grade.  Understanding how cells divide and specialize into differing types of tissues and organisms has brought about great enthusiasm.  In the eighth grade Earth Science we have moved beyond the periodic table and minerals and rocks and are delving into the composition of the earth’s crust.  Soon we will look at the natural causes of earth’s shifting and repositioning of the continents.

As we approach the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, we are working on our Math computation and problem solving and improving our speed and accuracy in these areas.  Our reading comprehension and language basics such as capitalization, punctuation, and vocabulary are also being worked on each day.

Our Religion program continues to discuss examples of how to live our lives in the best way possible, and following the example of Jesus Christ.  We also are working with a wonderful program called “Second Step” that lets our young teens practice practical skills with one another in the safety of our classroom so that when faced with difficult situations we are better prepared to act with our safety and others’ well being in mind.

For the parents:  Your child may download his/her vocabulary words to an IPOD at ww.sadlier-oxford.com.
It is a wonderful way for your student ot practice for vocabulary tests.
On the website, click on student, level B, iwords.
Then find the unit and presto! You can have all the words on your IPOD to study.
Happy listening!
