Gift Planning

Planning is one of the most important aspects of giving.

You should consult your private tax planner and/or attorney before making any gift to charity.  Taking care of yourself and your family are as important as your consideration of a gift.  Please contact The Reverend Shawn Daly or Mrs. Kathy Spencer through the school office or at SJS@sjs-meriden.org to discuss a gift to Saint Joseph School.

Gifts of Cash
Cash is the easiest way to support a charity.  A gift made by December 31 could save you money when tax time arrives.  If you itemize deductions and are in the 28% tax bracket, a $1,000.00 gift before December 31 could save you $280.00 in taxes.  If you are in a higher tax bracket, your savings could be more. Please consult with your tax advisor or your attorney to investigate which plan is best for you, your family and the causes that are important to you.

Gifts of Stock
Stocks or securities can offer you a most advantageous opportunity to make a considerable gift.  A stock or security which has been held for many years and has appreciated greatly may offer an opportunity to pass on the capital gains to the charity while offering a significant tax deduction to you if you itemize your deductions.

Gifts of Insurance
There are several options when considering a gift of life insurance to a charity.  Whether a new policy or an old policy, both offer a unique way to give to charity while taking care of your family.

Gifts by Bequest
These are the easiest gifts to arrange to continue your support of a cause which is important to you.  Planning with your attorney can allow you to support your heirs as well as a charity.

There are other gift opportunities available.  Please consult with your tax advisor or your attorney to investigate which plan is best for you, your family and the causes that are important to you.
